Women say men driving big cars are big losers

Men driving 4x4s be warned - the size of a man’s motor leaves a woman’s engine running cold.

According to a poll of women drivers undertaken by Diva, car insurance designed for women, there’s nothing the female of the species hates more than men driving big beastie gas guzzlers.

Of the 1,000 women surveyed, 64% said they’d like to date a man with a hybrid or a low emission vehicle and that a man driving an environmentally friendly car would make a loving, faithful partner.

A whopping 73% of women surveyed by Diva think a man driving a 4x4 is a loser and would describe him as arrogant. In addition to these findings, Diva commissioned a motoring survey by YouGov which found that far from looking cool, 53% of women think men driving 4x4s are environmentally irresponsible.

Convertible cars too are anything but babe magnets, three out of four women surveyed by Diva described men who drive soft tops as either ‘boy racers’ or ‘wannabe celebrities’ – far from the desired effect! But men on the other hand like to see women behind the wheel of a sports car - 39% of them said they think women driving convertible car are sexy, 11% think they just look silly and 5% said they don’t even notice the woman; they just have eyes for the engine she’s driving!

The Diva survey results also revealed a dramatic shift in females’ attitudes towards men and their cars, with a new trend emerging that suggests that a man driving a hybrid or an electric car holds the key to a women’s heart. According to Diva research, women find men more attractive if they’re driving an environmentally friendly car.

Diva said: “Women know what they want in a man and very often the type of car they drive is a good indictor of the type of guy they are. Men need to learn that sports cars won’t always help them score with the ladies and in fact, the wrong type of car could stall any chance of a relationship.
