Women Choose Looks Over Performance
Female drivers are more likely to choose aesthetics over practicality when it comes
to buying a new car or used car, according to Diva, one of the UK’s leading providers
of car insurance for women.
A survey of 1,300 Diva drivers revealed that women are more likely to purchase a
car based on what colour it is, how good it looks and what gadgets it has inside.
The poll revealed that 81% of women would choose a car based on what it looks like
rather than practical reasons including engine size, road tax bracket, miles to
the gallon, CO2 emissions and car insurance cost.
The survey by Diva found that women’s top priorities when buying a car are –
- Colour
- Shape of the car
- Interior fabric
- Air conditioning
- Sound system
Rebecca Corbett, Head of Diva, car insurance for women said: "Women need to think
practically when buying a new or second hand car. While aesthetics can be an important
factor in choosing a car, safety features and running costs must also be taken into
consideration.
"It is vital that women research how much a car will cost to insure before they
make a purchase rather than after, as they may end up paying more than they expected."
