The study into cars owned by the thousands of policy holders at Diva, one of the UK’s leading
providers of car insurance for women, shows that the Corsa was the most popular model, followed
by the Ford Fiesta and Vauxhall Astra.
The top 5 models for women in 2009 were:
- Vauxhall Corsa 7%
- Ford Fiesta 5%
- Vauxhall Astra 4.29%
- Renault Clio 4.25%
- Nissan Micra 3.83%
The study also looked into the top car makes for women in 2009, with Ford (16%) coming in first,
closely followed by Vauxhall (15%). Other popular models included Peugeot (10%), Renault (9%) and Volkswagen (6%)
Rebecca Corbett, Head of Diva car insurance. for women, said: “The results for last year show that
there is clearly a trend towards women driving a wider variety of cars – and the Vauxhall Corsa
has come out as our number one motor.
“Due to the economic downturn, we are seeing Diva drivers opting for smaller, less expensive cars,
and this is backed up by the results of our study. Although a lot of female drivers might aspire to
sport 4x4s or fun convertibles, during 2009 they had to make more practical choices.”
